GENERAL OBJECTIVES

  • Improve institutional conditions

  • Encourage professional growth

  • Serve as local chapter for the district association

  • Serve as spokesmanbody

MEMBERSHIP IN THE MVCFA

Mountain View College Faculty Association membership provides:

  • Legal consultation on contractual issues through the legal defense fund

  • Opportunity to attend monthly informational meetings to keep abreast of current issues

  • Opportunity to participate in decision-making on important issues impacting faculty

  • Opportunity to associate with peers and collaborate on campus projects and activities

  • Representation on MVC campus to resolve conflicts between faculty and administration

  • Representation among other DCCCD campuses via the district Faculty Association Council

  • Representation at the district level with the Chancellor, Vice Chancellor and DCCCD Trustees

  • Membership in the DCCFA (Dallas Community College Faculty Association)

  • Invitation to annual District Faculty Convention

  • Ability to nominate students for faculty scholarships

Accomplishments
  • Represented faculty concerns with the administration on MVC campus and at the district level

  • Represented MVC faculty in contract disputes

  • Worked to assure academic freedom

  • Worked to increase understanding of the evaluation process

  • MVFA President met regularly with the college President and the Vice President of Instruction to ensure better communication between faculty and administration

  • Represented MVC faculty interests with Early College High School

  • Successfully worked to increase the number of Full Time Faculty

  • Worked to ensure timely hiring practices

  • Continued to address issues related to faculty salary structures

  • Monitored budget issues closely; kept the membership informed

  • Worked together to achieve an inclusive and informed MVC Faculty Association membership

  • Continued to provide an active MVC Faculty Association website

  • Achieved 93% membership in the Faculty Association at MVC

  • Held several recruitment events for prospective members

Instructions for members to pay dues or make donations:

  1. Log into your personal banking or credit card account through an internet browser or an app on your phone.

  2. Select “Transfer/Send.”

  3. Enter dues amount: $90 for full time faculty; $35 for adjunct faculty.

  4. Enter your college treasurer’s email: mzouyousefain@gmail.com

  5. Enter your college name: Mountain View Faculty Association.

  6. Select the “For What?” tab.  

  7. Enter: “College FA  2019-2020 Dues

  8. Select “Send Money.”

  9. The treasurer will receive an email receipt.

 

Alternatively:

Checks and/or money orders should be made out to “Mountain View Faculty Association.”
